As US Tech Workers noted in their weekly newsletter, Mark Krikorian of the Center for Immigration Studies pointed out that many of the still-employed foreign H-1B workers in the US are receiving stimulus money well below the prevailing wage of most skilled US tech workers.
Since one has to include current wages/salary on the application form for the CARE Act assistance money, the data has now revealed that many of them are working the US below $100,000 – far below the prevailing wage for such workers – which is in the mid $100,000’s per year range.
Which means all those H-1B workers are working illegally since they are not being paid the prevailing wage as required by law.
Final proof that the H-1B visa program is an illegal wage-fixing, cheap labor replacement program – and why those abusing it must be prosecuted now. Better yet, since the program can’t really be enforced at the national level – the US gov’t does not have enough resources for blanket enforcement – the program must be ended now.

“Excellent point. For an H-1B worker to get coronabucks, his salary would have to be less than $99,000. What kind of ‘best and brightest’ tech worker makes less than $99K? #H1B is just a white-collar cheap-labor program – braceros working in cubicles instead of out in the fields.”
