Apple has for a long time slowly begun a process of off boarding corporate employees and replacing them with contract worker companies that pay half the Corp employee wage. I left the company five years ago because of this. It’s no surprise that they would do this.— kitnasty (@gay4unicorns) September 8, 2021 I thought that was illegal?— Maeby (@marlanebozzi) September 8, 2021 It is. It’s called Title 8 of US law. Most Silicon Valley execs are in violation of US law. https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/8/1182 I was contracted to an Apple contractor & I can 100% attest to this. Worked on a project that had us working 16 hour days w no over time & sum ppl originally weren't going to get paid past 40 hrs/wk b/c of their contracts. All worked out but they tried pulling sum fuckery 4 sure— Boogatti👻 (@SBodratti) September 8, 2021 I knew something was off. Customer support has become luck of the draw.— Edie Layland (@EdieLayland) September 9, 2021 they borrowed ideas from universities. this is horrid capitalism— TeodoraBeloreshka (@TeodoraBelores1) September 9, 2021 Why Apple and other corps replace W2 employees with contract workers: Contract company workers are cheaper, don't require benefits, are not covered by US labor/employment laws. Can't unionize. Its the new business model.— Kris Keegs (@LKiegs) September 9, 2021 Pretty normal these days. Also easier to fire too, I reckon. And replacement with domestic contractors is prob the first step before just moving the work overseas.— 司徒 (@szetoinsitu) September 9, 2021 Post navigation Homeless women say treated them like ‘critters’ What ever Happened To The Lisa?
